FIXING THE FUTURE OF BATTERIES, RIGHT NOW

In a recent edition of Nature Communications, Drexel materials science and engineering researchers Yury Gogotsi, PhD, and Maria Lukatskaya, PhD, who have been surveying the landscape of energy storage research for years, offer a unified route for bringing our energy storage and distribution capabilities level with our energy production and consumption. XXV International Materials Research Congress

Prof. Yury Gogotsi will be attending the XXV International Materials Research Congress in Cancun: www.mrs-mexico.org.mx/imrc2016

He will be giving invited talks in Nanobiodesign (A.2) and Nanostructured Materials and Nanotechnology (A.7) symposia.  We are happy to note that the Nanobiodesign symposium is organized by our former PhD student Z. Goknur Cambaz (Buke), who is a professor in Turkey now.

“Multifunctional Two-Dimensional Transition Metal Carbide (MXene)-Polymer Composites”

Congratulations to Christine Hatter and her co-author Babak Anasori on this recognition. This is the first conference presentation and first award for Christine. Her poster is titled “Multifunctional Two-Dimensional Transition Metal Carbide (MXene)-Polymer Composites”. Christine joined Kathleen and Mengqiang with colleagues from NNFC-KAIST.  Below they are pictured with our colleague, Dr. Ahn.

365-24-7 Presentation Ceremony

The first 365-24-7 Presentation Competition was held in Spring 2016.  PhD Candidate, Kathleen Maleski, was selected as the best presenter for the 2016 competition.
The 365-24-7 Presentation Competition, designed by Dr. Babak Anasori, is a set of three presentations geared to prepare students for a variety of presentations, ranging from a conference presentation to an elevator pitch, or even shorter. Students present their research first in a 365 second (~ 6min) presentation, then present it in a 24s presentation (elevator speech) and prepare use a 7s presentation promoting the most important aspect of their research (first impression).  Following each presentation, students were judged by their peers on a 1-10 scale on the quality of their talk, clarity, and ability to communicate their research topic.
This year competition was held as a workshop in order to create polished presentations. Each presenter received a certificate of completion at the end and the winner received a $100 gift card.
