Drexel University continues to make great strides in its research output and reputation. Most notably, Drexel received the R1 Doctoral University designation from the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, ranking it among top-tier, prestigious universities. Drexel also moved up several places to No. 51 on the list of the world’s top 100 research universities for U.S. patents granted in 2018 by the National Academy of Inventors and Intellectual Property Owners Association. Plus, last year, Drexel researchers increased the amount of sponsored research awards by 15 percent, to $124 million.
